The choice in Tuesday’s election couldn’t be clearer.
On one side, we have a man who has dedicated his entire life to public service and helping others. On the other, we have a virulently racist president, surrounded by a cabal of criminals and spineless enablers, who is attempting to stage a hostile takeover of the entire federal government.
Joe Biden is a good man. Even his biggest detractors can’t find any real dirt on him. As a result, they have resorted to attacking his son, as if Hunter Biden was running for president, and his vice-presidential pick. Political analyst Steve Schmidt, who ran John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, described the former vice president as, “squeaky clean,” which explains why every fallacious assault on his character has fallen flat.
Donald Trump is an evil man. A comic-book writer couldn’t have conceived a more perfect supervillain. The president combines Lex Luthor’s relentless desire to enrich himself at the expense of others with the Joker’s burn-it-all-to-the-ground mentality. It would take pages and pages to list all the examples of rancid malfeasance associated with Trump, whether it be in his business dealings or his administration.
While Joe Biden preaches unity, Donald Trump stokes division. While Joe Biden promises to make our lives better, Donald Trump acts to make our lives worse. While Joe Biden shows empathy for people who have lost loved ones, Donald Trump demonstrates a depraved indifference to the more than 230,000 Americans who have died during the ongoing viral pandemic.
Joe Biden thinks of others first. Donald Trump thinks only of himself. Joe Biden wants to provide better training for police and sheriff’s departments, so they can serve our communities honorably. Donald Trump wants them to have near immunity when they assault, maim and kill civilians.
Joe Biden’s son Beau served in the military. Donald Trump believes the men and women who sacrifice for our nation are losers and suckers.
While Joe Biden pushes for scientists to lead the response to the coronavirus crisis that has been so woefully mismanaged, Donald Trump has done everything in his power to inflict as much pain and suffering on the country as humanly possible.
Donald Trump continues to stage packed campaign rallies, where few of his supporters wear masks, leading to viral spread around every community he visits. He has called for a slowdown in testing, because the reality of exploding case numbers, which have now reached 85,000 confirmed cases a day, makes him look bad.
Donald Trump refuses to support mask-wearing, even though it is now scientifically proven to be our best defense against the virus. Instead of promoting safe ways for Americans to vote by mail, the president has taken a multi-pronged approach to attack our electoral system and made it more dangerous for people to exercise their constitutional rights.
The president has sabotaged the United States Postal Service, so we can no longer rely on mailing in our ballots. Americans now must stand in line for hours, risking their health and safety to have their votes recorded. And, through it all, he continues to attempt to discredit and de-legitimize the election.
A president who cared about the people would make it easier for us to vote. Donald Trump has made it exponentially more difficult in the hope that he can steal the election.
At the same time the president creates conditions for the virus to spread uncontrollably, seemingly on purpose, his Justice Department is fighting to invalidate the Affordable Care Act, which millions of us rely on for our health insurance. He wants to end protections for patients with pre-existing conditions at a time when more and more of us will be beset by them.
And all of this is to say nothing about Donald Trump’s abhorrent child-separation policy, in which his administration ordered migrant children to be ripped away from their parents at the border. As of today, 545 of those children still have not been reunited with their parents.
Donald Trump is the worst president in United States history for several reasons. He is incompetent, he is narcissistic and he is vengeful. But it is his wanton cruelty that truly distinguishes him as an evil human being.
Joe Biden is the antithesis of Donald Trump in every way, shape and form. Come Tuesday, we need to vote for humanity, for sanity and for a man who we can trust to bring back the American way of life.
We need to vote for Joe Biden.
